The new model of 1980 featured independent rear suspension and a standard engine of the new digitally fuel injected 368 cubic inch Cadillac L62 V8, with the 350 cubic inch Oldsmobile diesel carried over as a no cost option except in California. For 1980 an integrated LED based MPG Sentinel display panel became standard equipment. The Seville and Eldorado shared front wheel drive platforms, in a car whose length and wheelbase were similar to those of the first generation.
