For 1976 the Ford Pinto received the egg crate grille and chrome headlamp bezels recycled from the Canada only 1974 Mercury Bobcat as a minor styling update. The Bobcat sold in the United States in the hatchback and station wagon bodies, with lesser trimmed versions offered in subsequent model years. The fuel tank design of the 1975 and 1976 Bobcat was identical to contemporary Pintos. The Bobcat was built at Edison Assembly in New Jersey, St. Thomas Assembly in Ontario and San Jose Assembly in California.
