The Aspen arrived for 1976 as the replacement for the Dart, available as a four door wagon, sedan or two door coupe in base, Custom and SE trims, with the R/T performance package for coupes only. In their first year the Aspen and the Volare differed only in taillights, grille, parking light location and trim strips. Total production was 189,900 Aspens, and the Aspen and Volare were named Motor Trend Car of the Year.
