The 1976 Caprice Classic marked the sixth and final year of the body style introduced for 1971. The 1976 models weighed about 4,314 pounds and were 222.9 inches long, up from 4,040 pounds and 216.8 inches in 1971. Only minor changes were made, including an eggcrate grille like that of the 1976 Cadillac Calais, DeVille and Fleetwood, and the 4 door hardtop Sport Sedan was the last pillarless model offered by Chevrolet.
