1976 AMC Gremlin

Automobiles

Changes were greater for the 1976 Gremlins. Oval headlight bezels replaced the previous circular items. The grille shape became a stretched hexagon, and a new Custom trim line debuted, featuring a striped interior trim called Potomac, as well as a spare tire cover. Due to flagging sales the 304 cubic inch V8 engine option, now downgraded to 120 horsepower, was canceled at midyear, after only 826 installations. Sales tapered slightly to 52,941, a 5.5 percent decline.
