In 1974 the short wheelbase variant of the A body sedan was dropped and the Valiant sedan became a rebadged Dart. A Scamp package with the 318 V8, a vinyl roof, air conditioning and carpet was offered, and the Valiant Brougham, with a Dodge Dart special edition twin, was introduced as a compact luxury car meant as an alternative to larger luxury cars following the oil crisis of 1973. It was also the first year of the fourth generation of the Valiant.
