1974 Dodge Monaco

Automobiles

The 1974 Monaco was completely redesigned on an all new unibody platform with new sheet metal, and every full size Dodge now carried the Monaco name, with the Monaco Custom replacing the Polara Custom and the previous Monaco renamed the Monaco Brougham. The oil crisis began within days of the introduction, so Chrysler was criticized for bringing out huge new cars, and the press thought the styling too derivative of a three year old Buick or Oldsmobile.
