For 1974 the Century Regal adopted a four door sedan from its parent line, which featured a slightly fastback roofline, while the Colonnade station wagon only carried the Century Estate nameplate. The Regal remained the flagship of the Buick A body intermediate line, which General Motors had redesigned in the Colonnade style for 1973, after Buick dropped the Skylark name from the range. The 1974 car was the second year of the Colonnade body.
