1972 Range Rover

Automobiles

The British Trans-Americas Expedition of 1972 was the first expedition by vehicle to travel the length of the Americas from north to south, including the roadless Darien Gap, using specially modified Range Rovers that are now in the collection at Gaydon. The Range Rover itself was still a two-door car with a Rover V8 engine, a four-speed manual gearbox and permanent four-wheel drive with a lever for high and low ratios, aluminium panels and a symmetric dashboard.
