The Granada was launched in March 1972 as Ford's European executive car, succeeding the British Zephyr and the German P7 and completing the integration of the two Ford ranges. It was built at Cologne and at Dagenham as a four door saloon and an estate, and the coupe, the last model planned, was scheduled for May 1973. The Granada was introduced in South Africa in late 1972 in 3000 GXL automatic trim, with other models to follow.
