1971 Dodge Monaco

Automobiles

The 1971 Monaco got a facelift with a new grille inside the previous year's bumper, a single loop rear bumper and larger taillamps. The Super Lite was withdrawn because of low interest and legal challenges in some states, the 500 package was dropped, and all engines had their compression lowered to run on regular gasoline, cutting the four barrel 383 to 290 horsepower. Wagons moved their woodgrain trim high on the sides. Roughly 25,544 Monacos were built in 1971.
