In 1971 the convertible was no longer offered, as Chrysler halted production of convertibles across its entire lineup that year. The 300 ended in 1971 as the sole 300 model, a continuation of the letter series that had begun in 1955, and it was available only as a four door hardtop and a two door hardtop with the 440 V8 and concealed headlamps. The name would return in 1979 as an option package on the Cordoba.
