1969 Chevrolet Corvair

Automobiles

To better counter popular inexpensive subcompact competitors, especially the Beetle and Japanese imports such as the Datsun 510, General Motors replaced the Corvair with the more conventional Chevrolet Vega in 1970. The 1969 model was the last model year of the Corvair. Safety claims by Ralph Nader earned significant publicity, but a 1972 report by Texas A and M University found the 1960 to 1963 Corvair no more prone to loss of control.
