The Kingswood sedan and wagon were released as part of the new HK series of Holdens in January 1968, with the commercial versions in March 1968. The Monaro and the Brougham were introduced mid year of 1968, thereby broadening General Motors' range of locally built full size cars in Australia. The Kingswood name was used from the beginning of the HK series. The 1968 Kingswood was the first model year of the HK series, a full size Holden built in Australia, the base of the Monaro and Brougham.
