Engine offerings for the 1965 Tempest were the same as 1964, except the 326 HO was uprated to 285 horsepower and the GTO 389's uprated to 335 horsepower and 360 horsepower via higher rise intake manifolds. The cars were, in ascending order, the base Tempest, the Tempest Custom and the LeMans, with the GTO as an option package on the LeMans in 1965 and a separate line from 1966. The 1965 Tempest was the second year of the intermediate, the A body.
