In 1964 the factory sponsored Team Triumph entered three TR4s in the Canadian Shell 4000 rally. The next year after the 1963 race a privateer TR4 finished dead last in the 1964 running of the Sebring 12 hour race. The TR4 of 1964 was a sports car in its fourth year of production by the Triumph Motor Company, the final year before the TR4A. Triumph entered it in rallies. The Michelotti styled TR4 was in its fourth year.
