In 1964 the front glass area of the Suburban was updated to a flatter windshield and larger door glass, and 1,150 pounds of cargo could be carried in the back. The 2WD C models had introduced a torsion bar based independent front suspension and a trailing arm and coil spring rear, but had returned to a more conventional coil spring approach by 1963. One ton panel truck models remained available until 1966.
