In 1962 the Commuter was a full size Mercury station wagon built on the Ford based platform of the third Colony Park generation, offered with the same nameplates as the year before and differentiated from the Colony Park by the absence of woodgrain trim. It was a four door wagon in the Country Cruiser group, and the Mercury Meteor intermediate wagons were still to come. It was the lowest priced of the Mercury wagons, below the Colony Park.
