The Ford Popular was built in England until 1962, the last year of a design with provenance dating back to 1932. The 100E Popular used a superseded Anglia body shell and a 1172 cc side valve engine of 36 horsepower. The Popular name was also later used on basic models of the Escort and Fiesta cars, and in 1975 the name was revived as a base trim level of the Ford Escort Mk2. The Popular 100E was a basic budget car from Ford UK, often called the Ford Pop.
