The 1958 Popular 103E was the last year of the first version, which in later years became popular as hot rods starting in the late 1950s, when people started drag racing them because of their lightweight construction. The Ford Pop as it was affectionately known became the definitive British hot rod, a reduced size but readily available British alternative to the American Ford 1932 Model B and 18. The Popular 103E was a very basic budget car from Ford UK with a single vacuum powered wiper and no heater.
