By 1957 the Popular 103E was a car with a design whose provenance dated back to 1932, produced by Ford for 27 years through several adjustments, updates and name changes, from the Model Y through the 7Y, the Anglia E04A and the E494A. Unless the buyer could pay an extra 100 pounds or so for an Anglia 100E, Austin A30 or Morris Minor, the Popular was the lowest priced new car. It was often called the Ford Pop. The Popular 103E was a very basic budget car from Ford UK with a single vacuum powered wiper and no heater.
