The Ranger was the base trim model for Edsel in its first year, 1958, with arm rests, a cigarette lighter, a rear view mirror, two coat hangers and black rubber floor mats, and chrome around the rear quarter panel cove molding. It rode on Ford's 118 inch wheelbase, with a 361 cubic inch V8 of 303 horsepower as standard and a three speed manual, and output was an estimated 21,301 units. The Ranger lacked the stainless trim on the front doors and fenders of the upmarket Pacer.
