The 1956 Prefect 100E, a four door saloon with integral construction, coil independent front suspension and hydraulic brakes, had its dashboard revised, as the binnacle surrounding the steering column was replaced by a central panel with twin dials. It remained powered by the side valve 1172 cc engine, with the heater as an optional extra, and the Squire estate was offered alongside it. The Prefect was the four door counterpart of the Ford Anglia, built by Ford UK.
