For 1956 a two door hardtop coupe version of the Eldorado was released, called the Eldorado Seville, and a two door convertible called the Eldorado Biarritz. Cadillac began using these nameplates, the first after the city in southern Spain and the second after the luxury seaside resort in southern France, to distinguish between the hardtop and convertible models. For 1955 the Eldorado body had gained its own rear end styling with distinctly pointed tailfins.
