The 1954 model year brought the biggest changes since launch. The 80-inch wheelbase model was replaced by one of 86 inches, and a new 107-inch pick-up version added extra load space behind the cab. The spread-bore petrol engine followed in the middle of the year, which let coolant reach the spaces between the cylinders. The long-wheelbase model introduced that year was the step that opened the way to the station wagons that followed.
