1953 Jeep CJ-3A

Automobiles

The CJ-3A ended in 1953, when the CJ-3B replaced it, in the same year Willys-Overland was bought by Kaiser Motors, and 131,843 CJ-3As had been produced before the series ended. About 550 had been assembled by Mitsubishi as the J1 and J2 for Japanese police and forestry use. The CJ-3B that followed introduced a higher grille and hood to clear the new Willys Hurricane engine, so the 1953 CJ-3A was the last of the lower hooded Jeeps built by Willys-Overland itself.
