Plymouth used the name Savoy as a trim package starting in 1951, an upgrade of the base model Suburban station wagon, rather than as a series of its own. The name followed Plymouth's habit of naming models after upscale hotels, as with the Plaza and the Belvedere, in this case the Savoy Hotel in London. The Savoy trim package ran from 1951 to 1953, before the name became a full model line in 1954.
