1951 Chrysler New Yorker

Automobiles

Chrysler introduced the 180 horsepower FirePower Hemi V8 for 1951, and cars with the Hemi could accelerate from zero to sixty in ten seconds, faster than the Oldsmobile 88 Rocket engine, which made the engine popular with hot rodders and racers. The New Yorker also offered Fluid Torque Drive with a real torque converter, and Hydraguide power steering, an industry first, was an option. A station wagon was built with only 251 examples.
