The CJ-3A, along with the later CJ-3B and CJ-5, was used as a platform for early Zamboni ice resurfacers, produced from 1950 until 1964 and mounted on top of Jeeps to clean and smooth the surface of ice rinks. The 1950 CJ-3A was otherwise the same civilian Jeep introduced the year before, with the beefed up ten leaf suspension that suited it to carrying the farm implements built for the vehicle, and its Willys Go Devil four cylinder engine of 60 horsepower.
