1948 Chrysler New Yorker

Automobiles

The first 1948 New Yorkers were just 1947 models with no visible changes, because the restyled 1949 cars were delayed by production problems, so the 1948 car kept the die cast harmonica grille and 1941 based body. New Yorkers produced between December 3, 1948 and January 11, 1949 were marketed as 1949 First Series models, a stopgap that kept dealers supplied while the new body, delayed by a strike, was readied.
