Wartime users of the E83W of 1942 fitted mobile canteens, ice cream vans and even fire pumps on its chassis, so the half ton van was put to many special uses. It was made at Dagenham by Ford of Britain and had a slow top speed of about forty miles per hour. The E83W was a half ton light commercial vehicle that Ford of Britain built at Dagenham, with a small side valve engine. It was sold as a Fordson and later as a Thames, and exported widely as Britain sought export sales after the war.
