The Eifel was replaced by the Ford Taunus, and production ended in 1940 after the outbreak of European war in 1939, with 61,495 Eifels made in Germany. The Cologne plant went on to make passenger cars only until 1942, and the Eifel was named after the Eifel mountain range. The Eifel was a small German Ford based on the British Model C, assembled in Cologne and elsewhere. It was named after a mountain range in western Germany, and it made up over half of the Cologne output.
