The 1935 Ford was a thorough refresh of the popular V8 Ford, and visually much more modern, with the grille pushed forward and made more prominent by less emphasised, better integrated fenders in Art Deco style. Its combination of price, practicality and looks put Ford ahead of Chevrolet for the sales crown, with 820,000 sold. Ford sold it with ten body styles from several coachbuilders, ahead of Chevrolet in 1935. The Model 48 was an American Ford of the mid 1930s with a flathead V8 engine and a ladder frame.
