The car destined to succeed the Twenty, the six cylinder 20/6, was announced at the October 1926 London Motor Show, though production really started only in early 1928. From then until 1930 the two engines were sold alongside each other. The new car was the end of the one model line: the first model was referred to as the Austin 20/4 after the 20/6 came out in 1927, as the name needed to separate them.
