The Twenty was introduced in 1922 as the Rolls-Royce small car, built alongside the 40/50 Silver Ghost and intended to appeal to owner drivers. It had a substantial chassis with rigid front and rear axles suspended by half elliptic springs, braking initially only on the rear wheels, and the famous Rolls-Royce radiator with a triangular top, with early examples having enamel finished horizontal slats.
