Genesis

Genesis is the luxury vehicle brand of the South Korean conglomerate Hyundai Motor Group. Hyundai conceived Concept Genesis in 2003 and sold its first Genesis model as a Hyundai from 2008, then announced Genesis as an independent brand on 4 November 2015. The first model of the stand-alone marque, the G90 flagship sedan, was released in 2017, and the brand entered the United States in 2017 and Europe, including the United Kingdom, in 2021. Genesis vehicles are designed in three centres, in Germany, South Korea and the United States, and are built in Ulsan, and the brand describes its design philosophy as Athletic Elegance. It names sedans with the letter G and a number and crossovers with GV and a number, and it passed 1.5 million cumulative global sales in November 2025. The Genesis Magma programme extends the marque into high-performance vehicles and motorsport.
