The Herald is the small two door car that Standard-Triumph of Coventry introduced in 1959 and made through to 1971, with a body design by the Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti, offered in saloon, convertible, coupe, estate and van models, the van marketed as the Triumph Courier. It was launched at the Royal Albert Hall on 22 April 1959. Leyland Motors took Standard-Triumph over in 1961, and the car was relaunched with an 1147 cc engine as the Herald 1200. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in 3 generations: the Herald 948 (1959 to 1961); the Herald 1200 and 12/50 (1961 to 1967); the Herald 13/60 (1967 to 1971).
