The New Class, Neue Klasse in German, is the line of sedans and coupes that BMW produced between 1962 and 1972, models that ensured the company's solvency after the financial crisis of the 1950s and established the identity of BMW automobiles as luxury sports sedans. The prototype was introduced in September 1961 as the BMW 1500, the 1800 and 1600 followed, the 2000 C and 2000 CS coupes were added in 1965, and the 4 door sedans were replaced in 1972 by the E12 5 Series. This site gives every generation and every model year its own page, in one generation: the single generation (1962 to 1972).
