The 1980 Honda Accord was updated for North America with slightly redesigned bumper trim, new grilles and taillamps, and remote mirrors added on the four door and LX models, and the CVCC badges were deleted although the CVCC induction system remained. The optional two speed semi automatic Hondamatic gave way to a fully automatic three speed gearbox, and engines built to California specification got a four port exhaust valve head plus a catalytic converter. The Accord would not get a four speed automatic transaxle until the 1983 model year.
