The 1990 Honda Accord, unveiled in 1989 on the CB chassis, was much larger than its predecessor and for the first time no longer offered a three door hatchback internationally. It was one of the first U.S. production cars with optic reflectors and completely clear lenses on the headlamps. Every car sold in North America now carried a new 2.2 liter, 16 valve, fuel injected engine made entirely of aluminum as standard equipment, and the DX, LX and EX trim levels took the place of the LX-i and SE-i names. Every Accord sold in the United States for the 1990 and 1991 model years had motorised shoulder belts for the front seats.
