Honda has built the Odyssey minivan since 1994 for markets across most of the world, and the international version is now in its fifth generation. It was originally conceived and engineered in Japan in the wake of the country's economic crisis of the 1990s, which constrained the vehicle's size, and the first generation was marketed in Europe as the Honda Shuttle. Since model year 1999 Honda has marketed a larger, large MPV class Odyssey in North America and a smaller Odyssey in Japan and other markets, and the larger North American Odyssey was also offered in Japan as the Honda LaGreat between 1999 and 2004. This is a separate model page from the North American Odyssey. This site lists a page for every model year in the span covered here, each focused on what changed in that year, grouped into 5 generations: the first generation (1994 to 1998 model years); the second generation (1999 to 2002 model years); the third generation (2003 to 2007 model years); the fourth generation (2008 to 2012 model years); the fifth generation (2013 to 2023 model years). Each year page links to its generation, to this model page, to the previous model year and to Honda.
