Western Star is a premium North American heavy truck brand, headquartered in Portland, Oregon and built mainly for vocational and long-haul work. White Motor Corporation started it in 1967 as White Western Star, with a plant at Kelowna, British Columbia. After a period under other owners, which included buying the bus maker Ontario Bus Industries, later Orion, in 1995, it was bought by DaimlerChrysler in 2000 and became part of the Freightliner Trucks division. Production moved to Portland in 2002 and later to Cleveland, North Carolina. The Constellation series that ran from 1998 and 1999 was replaced by the X Series from 2022.
