Fuji Heavy Industries

Vehicle and Equipment Manufacturers

Fuji Heavy Industries is the former name of the Japanese manufacturer that has been called Subaru Corporation since 1 April 2017, and this entity gathers the products it built under the Fuji name rather than as Subaru-brand cars. The company was incorporated on 15 July 1953 when five Japanese firms joined, and it traces its roots to the Nakajima Aircraft Company, a leading supplier of aircraft to the Japanese government in the Second World War. Its aerospace division produced trainers and light aircraft such as the T-1, KM-2, LM-1 Nikko and FA-200 Aero Subaru, builds Boeing and Lockheed Martin helicopters and airplanes under license, and makes the center wings of the Boeing 777 and 787. The company also made buses and railway rolling stock until it stopped both in 2003, while its cars carry the separate Subaru brand.
