On September 5, 2008 the tenth generation of the RR was announced by Honda, as a 2009 model. Engine, styling and performance stayed much the same, and the one significant addition was an optional Combined ABS system fitted at the factory, first shown on the CBR600RR Combined ABS prototype. Lightweight turn signals were also added. Motorcycle USA gave the 2009 CBR1000RR its Best Sportbike of the Year Award in its Best of 2009 Awards.
