Only 25,877 Stags were produced between 1970 and 1977, perhaps because the American market never took to the car, and production ended in 1977. The Lynx, a replacement, was very close to production, scheduled for launch in 1978. According to DVLA data in the fourth quarter of 2022, 8,409 UK cars survive, either taxed or under SORN. It was the last year of the Stag. Over 8,000 Stags still survive in the UK today.
