The GT6 Mark II, branded in North America as the GT6+, was introduced for the 1969 model year, with the rear suspension significantly re engineered using reversed lower wishbones and Rotoflex driveshaft couplings, taming the handling. The Vitesse was also modified, but the Spitfire had to wait until the 1971 Mark IV for any improvements. It was Triumph's response to criticism of the earlier car's handling.
