For the 2019 model year the Mazda2 based car was renamed again as the Yaris sedan in the United States, and a Mazda built Yaris hatchback made its debut at the 2019 New York show in April, with sales beginning in October 2019. The Vitz nameplate was dropped in Japan in 2019.
