In September 1963 a shorter and lighter duty model powered by the 1.5 liter R engine, called the Lite Stout, the RK40, appeared with independent coil sprung front suspension for a more carlike ride. In 1963 Stout assembly also began in Uruguay. It was model year 4 of 7 in the Toyota Stout (second generation, K40 and K100), 1960 to 1977, coming after the 1962 model year and before the 1964 model year. Model year pages for the Toyota Stout run from 1956 to 2000.
