It was nominated for the North American Truck of the Year award in 2001, and it was the first mainstream full size SUV from a Japanese brand in North America. This was the first model year of the Toyota Sequoia (first generation, XK30 and XK40), 2001 to 2007, the first generation covered for the Toyota Sequoia; the 2002 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Sequoia run from 2001 to 2025.
