The Roomy and the Tank were launched in Japan on 9 November 2016 beside the Daihatsu Thor, as a five seat mini MPV with sliding doors based on the Boon. The pre facelift Roomy used standard taillights while the Tank used clear lens lights. This was the first model year of the Toyota Roomy (single generation with the Tank twin), 2016 to present, the first generation covered for the Toyota Roomy; the 2017 model year follows it. Model year pages for the Toyota Roomy run from 2016 to 2020.
